There are a few items of clothing that every girl should have in their closet. The basics.
These items can act as a base for other statement pieces or allow you to stay stylish while keeping it simple. They fit the lifestyle of any female — whether you’re a 9-5 working girl, college student, or stay at home mom. The basics are timeless and give you the luxury of never having to go through the “I have nothing to wear!” stage in the morning……ideally.
On the other hand, you could be rebuilding your wardrobe from scratch. This list will work as a great start and allow you to build in the direction of your personal style.
Personally, I love wearing basics by themselves because it gives you so many options. Are you pulling off minimalism today or are you adding prints, color, and accessories for a bold look? The possibilities are endless.
LBD (Little Black Dress)
The little black dress will always be a go-to over and over again. It can be dressed down with a simple pair of shoes or amplified with accessories. Aim for a dress that transitions well from day to night. That way you’ll get the most use out of it.

Jeans
Someone once told me that you should always pay good money for your hair and your jeans. It’s something I always consider, but I also never turn away a good sale. Although shopping for jeans can be tedious, they are a necessity for your closet. While ripped jeans do make a statement, you should also own a pair that aren’t ripped. Try different cuts too!

Black Trousers
Black trousers are universal. You can wear them for any occasion that’s casual or dressy. They come in all different styles, so if the old school wide leg fit isn’t your thing, opt for a tapered fit instead. They even make some that are a skinny fit or high waisted. There’s something for everyone.

Blazer
I love blazers. They amp up an outfit and create a polished look. While black is the signature hue, you can make a statement in colorful blazers as well. My favorites are red, mustard, and white.

Black Heels
Black heels are a lifesaver, honestly. When in doubt, break out the black heels. They match everything. I even have a few different styles of black heels — because sometimes a pointy stiletto can’t pull off what a strappy detailed open toe can.

Chambray Shirt
This could be a matter of personal opinion but these are so clutch! If you find the right one, they are comfortable too. The natural and darker tones match seamlessly with khaki pants. A perfect casual look for the office. I also love to pair mine with white pants or jeans.
